With a total length of 739 kilometers and a design speed of 350 kilometers per hour, the West-Chongqing high-speed railway is an important part of the Beijing-Kunming corridor from Beijing to Kunming and the Baotou and Yinchuan to Haikou high-speed railway network. CTOnews.com learned that the Sichuan section of the main line, which is fully under construction, has a total length of 293.66 kilometers.

The railway department said that after the completion of the Xiyu high-speed railway project, it will further improve the national comprehensive three-dimensional transportation network, strengthen the links between the Shuangcheng economic circle in the Chengdu-Chongqing area and the urban agglomerations in Guanzhong and central Yunnan, and form a large high-speed railway corridor with the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Economic Zone, enhance the radiation and driving role of the central cities to the surrounding areas, and promote regional economic and social coordination and high-quality economic and social development along the line.
