Twitter will automatically disable this option for users after March 20. Disabling SMS 2FA will not automatically disassociate your phone number from your Twitter account.

Twitter encourages non-Twitter Blue subscribers to consider using authentication applications or security keys for 2FA authentication. These methods require you to actually have authentication methods, and are a good way to ensure that your account is secure.
