Now, T-Mobile has announced that it will phase out its 2G network on April 2, 2024. T-Mobile claims that it has started sending notifications to customers who have been using 2G networks since 2021.

In other words, if there is a user who uses the T-Mobile carrier model iPhone, he will no longer be able to use the GSM network from April 2 next year. Of course, there is still more than a year to go before the 2G network is completely shut down, and it is believed that most users will be able to change their phones.

It is reported that the 2G GSM system used in the United States is commonly known as PCS (Personal Communications Service), that is, GSM1900 using the 1900MHz band, which is different from the GSM900 (original GSM band) and GSM1800 (formerly known as PCN) used in Europe.

Compared with the previous generation to transmit voice directly in the way of analog signal, 2G mobile communication system transmits voice system digitally. In addition to calling function, some systems also introduce short message function. Data transmission and fax are also supported in some 2G systems, but because of the slow speed, it is only suitable for transmitting low volume e-mail, software and other information.
