CTOnews.com, February 17 (Xinhua)-- Tile, a competitor to Apple's AirTag, today announced the introduction of a new anti-theft mode that cannot be detected by anti-tracking scanning and security features after the Tile accessory is enabled.

Tile has previously introduced the Scan and Secure feature to curb the use of its item tracking product to track someone. IPhone and Android users can scan nearby Tile devices through this feature to prevent them from being used for tracking purposes.

But the Scan and Secure function destroys the anti-theft function of Tile, and the Tile item tracking products of stolen devices can be located and removed in the application.

Tile has introduced a new anti-theft mode (Anti-Theft Mode) that no longer displays Tile tracking devices in the Scan and Secure function.

Tile also said that in order to prevent people from abusing the anti-theft mode for tracking purposes, customers will be multi-factor identified before the mode is enabled, requiring them to agree to stringent terms of use. If a user is found to be tracking someone without the consent of another person, a fine of $1 million will be imposed.

Tile says anyone convicted of illegally stalking someone using a Tile device without their consent will be fined $1 million. Tile said it was also "highly cooperative" with law enforcement and would share users' personal information with law enforcement once it found that users with anti-theft mode were tracking.
