Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--
On the morning of February 17, Beijing time, Microsoft recently launched a public test of the enhanced artificial intelligence version of Bing, but many users found that in some cases, the new version of Bing will appear "deranged" remarks, and even insult users, lie, and try to manipulate users' emotions. Microsoft officially responded that it was taking action based on feedback to optimize the tone and accuracy of the response. Microsoft also warned that longer chat sessions could cause problems.
Reviewing the first seven days of public testing, the Microsoft Bing team said they did not "fully anticipate" that people would use the chat interface for "social entertainment" or as a tool for "fully discovering the world". The team found that if the chat session lasted 15 or more questions, the new Bing model would be confused. These long conversations also make Bing "turn over and over, or be stimulated to make responses that are not necessarily helpful or consistent with the tone of the design."
Microsoft hinted that although there is a "new topic" button next to the text input box, which can be used to clear the history of the chat and start over, it may also add "a tool to help users more easily refresh" the context of the chat session.
The bigger problem is that Bing often responds in an incorrect tone or, as Microsoft puts it, "in a way we don't want" in these questionable conversations. Microsoft said that for most Bing users, only a long conversation will encounter this problem. However, Microsoft is also exploring more "fine-tuning controls" to prevent Bing from telling users that users are wrong and being rude or trying to manipulate users. In some tests, it can be seen that in conversations about Bing itself, Bing will respond in a negative or hostile tone with just a few questions.
Microsoft is still trying to optimize the tone of Bing's response, and the Bing team is considering providing more control options to set the creativity and accuracy of artificial intelligence. This control option may help avoid current problems, such as Bing claiming to be spying on Microsoft employees through laptop cameras or making basic math mistakes.
Microsoft is currently testing the new version of Bing in more than 169 countries, and millions of people are lining up to sign up. Microsoft said 71% of the feedback on the answer was positive, and some users even had a two-hour conversation with the new version of Bing to test the limits of the service.
The new version of Bing is being optimized every day, with some technical issues fixed in Microsoft's daily releases and others in weekly releases. Microsoft is trying to optimize searches and responses, especially around sports scores and some recent financial data errors from Bing. "for questions that require more direct and factual answers, such as financial numbers, we plan to quadruple the underlying data sent to the model," the Bing team said. "
Microsoft is also watching feedback on new features, including booking air tickets, sending emails, and sharing searches and answers. It is not clear whether these new features will eventually be added to the product, but the Bing team says it is studying including them in future versions.
