CTOnews.com, February 17 (Xinhua)-- Apple today released statistics on the installation rates of iOS 16 and iPadOS 16, the first time Apple has provided such data since the launch of the system update last year.

The data shows how many iPhone and iPad are running iOS 16 and iPadOS 16, as measured by the devices that traded on App Store on February 14. IOS 16 is compatible with iPhone 8 and newer models, while iPadOS 16 is compatible with all iPad Pro and some iPad Air, iPad mini, and entry-level iPad models released since 2017.

According to Apple's website, iOS 16 has been installed on 72% of iPhone and 81% of iPhone launched in the past four years. According to Apple, 20% of iPhone is still running iOS 15, while 8% of iPhone is running iOS 14 or earlier.

According to Apple, the overall adoption rate of iPadOS 16 is 50%, compared with 53% of all iPad models launched in the past four years. Among all compatible iPad models, the usage of iPadOS 15 is still quite high, at 35%, while 13% are still running iPadOS 14 or earlier.

CTOnews.com learned that Apple shared the first iOS 15 installation rate statistics in January 2022, while the iOS 16 data was released in February, so the time difference does not allow direct comparison. In general, however, the adoption of iOS 16 is similar to that of iOS 15.
