Thanks to CTOnews.com netizen Brother Black fly's left hand clue delivery! CTOnews.com, February 17 (Xinhua) YouTube CEO Susan Wosic (Susan Wojcicki) announced Thursday that she will leave and be replaced by YouTube's chief product officer (CPO) Neal Mohan.

"Today, after nearly 25 years of working here, I have decided to step down from my position as head of YouTube and start a new chapter, focusing on my family, health and personal projects I am passionate about," Wosic said in a blog post. She added that in the short term, she plans to support Mohan and help complete the CEO transition, including continuing to work with some YouTube teams, mentoring team members and meeting creators.

CTOnews.com learned that Wojcicki, 54, joined YouTube as CEO in 2014 and has worked at Google for nearly 25 years. Wojcicki said she agreed with Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai to play an advisory role at Google and Alphabet in the long run. "this will enable me to use my different experiences over the years to provide advice and guidance to the entire portfolio of Google and Alphabet," she wrote.

"the timing is right for me, and I think we can do this because we have an incredible leadership team at YouTube," she points out. "when I joined YouTube nine years ago, one of my first tasks was to bring in an incredible leadership team."

Wojcicki has long-standing ties to Google founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin, who made them work from their home in Menlo Park, Calif., when they founded Google. Page and Brin rented garage space from her for $1700 a month. Wojcicki was working in Intel's marketing department at the time.

Wojcicki joined Google in 1999 to oversee the design and construction of Google's advertising and analytics products for 14 years. It plays an important role in the development of Google's core business search and advertising, and contributes to Google's position as the king of digital advertising.

In 2006, she advocated the acquisition of YouTube for $1.65 billion. During her tenure, she led the rapid expansion of YouTube to become the world's largest video platform. YouTube now has more than 2.5 billion monthly active users, with more than 500 hours of content uploaded to the platform every minute, the company said.

In recent years, YouTube has been under pressure to compete with Shorts, its short video platform, amid the growing popularity of social media, or TikTok. YouTube's advertising revenue fell 8 per cent year-on-year to $7.96 billion in the fourth quarter, falling short of analysts' expectations.
