CTOnews.com, February 16 (Xinhua)-- the mysterious spokes (Enigmatic) in Saturn's rings have fascinated and confused NASA scientists. The Hubble Space Telescope first captured this mysterious astronomical phenomenon, which looks like ghosts gliding along Saturn's rings.

Spokes were first discovered by NASA's Voyager in the 1980s, usually around Saturn's equinox (equinox). CTOnews.com learned that Saturn's Northern Hemisphere will enter the Autumn Equinox on May 6, 2025, so the mysterious spokes will reappear.

In order to study seasonal spokes in more detail, NASA said it would adjust the Hubble Space Telescope to study Saturn for some time to come. New images of ring planets will be combined with archived data to try to answer the causes of the "spoke season" and its seasonal changes.

"the Hubble OPAL project is building data files on extrasolar planets, so we have more time to study Saturn spokes," explained Amy Simon. She is the head of the Hubble Space Telescope, NASA's senior planetary scientist, and head of the OPAL program.
