CTOnews.com, February 16 (Xinhua)-- Google began to use its own Tensor chip in the Pixel 6 series of models launched in 2021. According to The Information, a foreign technology media, Google is planning to develop its own chips for data center servers and hopes to deploy them in 2025.

Amazon announced in 2018 that it would use its own Graviton processor in AWS server hardware, while Google plans to follow suit.

The report points out that Google is developing two chips internally, one of which is codenamed Cypress, which is designed entirely by Google Israel, and the other is codenamed Maple, which is based on Marvell Technology.

CTOnews.com learned from the article that the Cypress chip is regarded by Google as the "Plan A" processor, while the Maple chip is regarded as the "Plan B" processor. Both will use the 5nm chip process based on Arm. In addition, there is no more information about the specifications of the two custom chips.
