CTOnews.com February 16, MediaTek announced that MediaTek's high-end processor products include the flagship Tianji 9000 series and the mid-to-high-end Tianji 8000 series. Today, the company released the first chipset of the new Tianji 7000 series, known as the Tianji 7200.

MediaTek Tianji 7200 adopts the second generation TSMC 4 nanometer process, which is the same as the Tianji 9200 series. It comes with two Cortex-A715 cores with a peak frequency of 2.8GHz and six Cortex-A510 cores (the frequency is unknown). Coupled with the Mali G610 MC4 GPU, this GPU is similar to the G710 in Tianji 9000, but with fewer shader cores and can support FHD displays with refresh rates up to 144Hz, as well as HDR10+, CUVA HDR and Dolby HDR. MediaTek's HyperEngine 5.0allows AI-based variable rate shading, as well as UFS 3.1storage.

MediaTek said the chipset carries 14-bit HDR ISP and supports 4K HDR video shooting as well as a 200-megapixel main camera. It can even receive two video streams, each of which can reach full HD. Thanks to the built-in APU, the processor also supports some camera enhancements driven by artificial intelligence, such as real-time portrait beautification.

MediaTek Tianji 7200 supports sub-6GHz 5G network, and the downlink rate is as high as 4.7Gbps. Support for 2CC carrier aggregation and dual 5G SIM, as well as tri-band Wi-Fi 6e and Bluetooth 5.3.

CTOnews.com learned that the Tianji 7200 chipset will be unveiled in 5G smartphones released around the world in the first quarter of 2023.
