Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--

Thanks to CTOnews.com netizens, soft media new friends 2010825, EdgeOS, Dest1n for the clue delivery! CTOnews.com, February 16, Microsoft today released Windows 11 Dev preview version Build 25300 for developers to download and test. Today's updates are mainly improvements and bug fixes, as well as new content on real-time subtitles and Snap.

First of all, real-time subtitles have support for more languages, which first provided support for American English. The new languages supported in this update include Chinese (simplified and traditional), French, German, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese (Brazil), Spanish and other English dialects.

CTOnews.com learned that there is also a new experimental UI in this version for drop-down menus that appear when hovering over the maximize button in the application window. These experiments include displaying the application icon in the highlighted Snap area and adding the text "Snap this window" to make the user more aware of the role of the interface.

The following is the full update log for Build 25300:

New content introduces more language-supported real-time subtitles

Real-time subtitles help everyone and people who are deaf or hard of hearing to read real-time subtitles in their mother tongue. The first version of real-time subtitles in the Windows 11 2022 update provides English subtitles with an emphasis on English (US). In this version, real-time subtitles are also available in Chinese (simplified and traditional), French, German, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese (Brazil), Spanish and other English dialects. We will add more languages.

To use this feature for Japanese real-time subtitles, you can use WIN + Ctrl + L keyboard shortcuts to open real-time subtitles, or through the quick-set accessibility fly-out menu. When opened for the first time, real-time subtitles will prompt you to download the required speech recognition support to enable subtitles on the device. If speech recognition support is not available in your preferred Windows language, or if you want support from other languages, you will be able to download speech recognition support for real-time subtitles under Settings > time and language > language and region.

We look forward to you trying more real-time subtitles in languages and look forward to hearing from you.

Feedback: please submit feedback under "accessibility" > "Real-time subtitles" under "feedback Center" (WIN + F).

Change and improve [Snap layout]

We are developing channels to try different ways to deal with Snap layouts with Windows Insiders. We are studying how to improve the discoverability and utilization of Snap layouts, such as reducing the hover time for calling the fly-out menu when you place your mouse over the maximum / restore button in the application's title bar. Among other adjustments, you will notice that some processing methods also pull in the icon of the application window you are working on and add a descriptive title. If you see one of these treatments, please give us feedback on your ideas. As a reminder, it is normal for us to try different concepts in the development channel to get feedback.

Example of Snap layout processing attempted with Windows Insiders in a development channel [voice input]

Synchronizing changes in voice typing settings, automatic punctuation, and voice typing launchers on all devices logged in using the same Microsoft account, launched in Build 25227, is now available to all Windows Insiders of the development channel. You can switch this function by setting up > account > Windows backup > remember my preferences > accessibility. Currently, this feature is only available for today's Microsoft accounts, and AAD support will come later.

[settings]

Updated Settings > applications > Startup to make it easier to get more information about the listed applications.

Right-click the Win32 application in start, or search for the application and select Uninstall, which will now take you to the settings to uninstall the application.

[WSL]

The upgrade experience for new Windows Subsystem for Linux Store applications (mentioned in Build 25272) has been improved, so now if you call wsl.exe, you will be prompted for installation.

Repair [generic]

We fixed a low-level problem with combase.dll, which crashed multiple applications using GetKnownFolder API after upgrading to Build 25290, including notepad and IME users with Windows terminals. This problem is also considered to be the root cause of why some people in the industry have found that some operations in File Explorer take several minutes to complete in these versions.

We fixed problems that caused rendering problems and difficulties in restoring the environment (WinRE) using Windows.

Fixed a problem that some users encountered when authenticating corporate websites that required Windows integrated certification.

[taskbar and system tray]

The ability to display seconds in the clock on the system tray was first introduced by Build 25247, and if it disappeared after you updated to Build 25295 last week, it should be restored after updating to Build 25300.

Fixed an issue that caused the taskbar to be cut off after a resolution change.

We fixed a problem that might accidentally switch window focus when hovering over an application icon on the taskbar.

[gadget]

Due to a fix that caused third-party gadgets to be unfixed when logging in with a Microsoft account on multiple Windows 11 devices, the latest gadget update in the development channel will undock third-party gadgets. Insiders will need to go back to their gadget boards and re-nail these gadgets. If you still see the problem of gadgets accidentally unpinned-please give feedback.

Currently, the link to "find more gadgets" in the gadget picker is no longer broken and will point to the store collection here.

[input]

We are starting to fix problems with IME candidate windows and IME toolbars that are sometimes not displayed or cropped.

[file Explorer]

Dragging and dropping files and folders between tags should work again.

[task Manager]

The process name entered in the search box should no longer be accidentally spell-checked.

Fixed several issues with how Narrator reads content in Task Manager.

Fixed an issue where the drop-down menu in the settings might not match the theme you currently selected.

When using search on the application history page, the results should no longer suddenly disappear.

If you open the drop-down menu of the default start page in the settings, clicking on the Task Manager window should now make the drop-down menu disappear.

Dragging the window using the search box area should now work (just like other areas of the title bar).

Fixed an issue where the confirmation dialog box was not displayed when ending the process in the details tab.

Increasing the zoom ratio of the text should no longer result in a "View more" button with no content.

If you do a search and then press the down arrow, the keyboard focus should now move from the search box to the results.

If you enable the comparison theme and select one of the rows on the process page, the row should now show that it is selected.

Fixed an issue where the focus may not be set correctly to search, causing the narrator not to say that the focus is on the search box.

[other]

Fixed an issue where the focus of Narrator did not correctly return to the Quick setup window when using the return button on the Actors page.

Note: some of the fixes in the Insider Preview build from the development channel mentioned here may be included in service updates for the Windows 11 release.

Known problem [generic]

We are investigating a problem that some users are experiencing longer update times than expected when installing recent builds. If you encounter this problem, please submit a new feedback project with a log in the feedback center.

When some AAD (Azure Active Directory) users log in to Windows after updating the latest version, they now see the "ready for you" screen. We are investigating the problem.

Launching the Group Policy Editor may display an error about the displayName attribute not found.

Logging in using Windows Hello for facial recognition may not work on Arm64 computers. The solution to this is to use the Hello PIN path.

We are investigating reports on the newer versions of the Windows Insider Program settings page that appear available in Windows Update, even though they are the latest available versions in Dev Channel.

We are investigating reports that the New button in Snipping Tool does not work for some insiders after upgrading to Build 25295. If you are affected by this, go to Settings > applications > default applications, and set the screen clipping to the default value of ms-screenclip, which should solve this problem.

[gadget]

We are investigating a problem that, in some cases, third-party gadgets may not load as expected.

[taskbar and system tray]

The application icon on the taskbar may appear on the wrong display of some insiders with multiple monitors.

[Windows Spotlight]

The following known issues apply only to Windows Insiders that has received one of the different treatments of Windows Spotlight, which has been promoted to Insiders since Build 25281.

Clicking on the second monitor will not cancel the full-screen experience.

[real-time subtitles]

On Arm64 devices, enhanced speech recognition support will be installed incorrectly through the language and locale pages. Arm64 users who do not support speech recognition can use this solution: (1) uninstall all voice packages-application entries in Settings > applications > installed applications; and (2) temporarily set the first language in their preferred language list as an acceptable alternative language in Settings > time and language > language and region (3) start real-time subtitles.

Traditional Chinese real-time subtitles are currently not available on Arm64 devices.

Some languages displayed on the language and locale pages will show support for speech recognition (for example, Korean), but do not yet support real-time subtitles.

When you add a language through the language and locale page, the installation progress of the language feature may be hidden, and you may not see the installation of enhanced speech recognition (required for real-time subtitles) complete. (you can use the language options of the language to monitor progress. If this happens, there may be an unexpected delay before the real-time subtitle setting experience detects this and allows you to continue.

The language and locale page may not be able to provide the necessary speech recognition language support for real-time subtitles within an hour after the first login.

Subtitle performance in non-English languages may decline, and there is a lack of out-of-language filtering in non-English (American) languages, which means that incorrect subtitles are displayed for sounds that are not in the subtitle language.
