Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--

CTOnews.com February 15 news, TrendForce Jibang Consulting today released a report that the current lithium-ion battery industry chain to digest inventory, upstream lithium battery material prices fell in January, cathode materials (Cathode materials) and its raw materials, electrolytes and other decline is the most obvious.

The report pointed out that in terms of cathode materials, battery-grade lithium carbonate (Lithium Carbonate) is the most expensive raw material, with an average monthly price drop of 12% in January. The price of another raw material, lithium hydroxide (Lithium Hydroxide), also declined, but the price drop of lithium hydroxide was slightly lighter than that of lithium carbonate, supported by overseas order demand, but the average price of battery-grade lithium carbonate and lithium hydroxide fell below 500000 yuan per ton in January.

As for electrolytes, affected by the decline in the price of lithium salts, the average price of lithium hexafluorophosphate (LiPF6), the raw material of the electrolyte, fell by 11% in January, which in turn affected the average monthly price of the electrolyte by 11%.

TrendForce Jibang Consulting said that the slowdown in China's new energy vehicle market led to a decline in demand for power batteries and a collective drop in the price of upstream raw materials, easing the cost pressure on lithium-ion batteries.

▲ Tupuan: TrendForce Jibang Consulting according to the data of the China Automobile Association previously reported by CTOnews.com, in January 2023, the production and sales of new energy vehicles in China reached 425,000 and 408000 respectively, down 46.6% and 49.9% respectively from the previous month, 6.9% and 6.3% respectively compared with the same period last year, and the market share reached 24.7%. In January 2023, sales of pure electric vehicles were 287000, down 18.2 per cent from a year earlier, while sales of plug-in hybrids were 121000, up 42.5 per cent from a year earlier.
