CTOnews.com, February 15, according to several media reports, Sony's next-generation flagship Xperia phone will become the industry's first mobile phone with built-in Bluetooth LE Audio support.

Although Android 13 supports Bluetooth LE Audio natively, the Pixel 7 series does not provide this feature. The Xperia 1 IV and Xperia 5 IV will be the first to support Bluetooth LE Audio through updates.

When the Xperia 1 V and Xperia 5 V models support Bluetooth LE Audio, they can use the low complexity Communication Codec (LC3). LC3 has dynamic audio scaling capabilities like aptX Adaptive.

In theory, Bluetooth LE Audio and LC3 consume less power and provide a larger range while providing less latency than other mainstream Bluetooth technologies.

CTOnews.com reminder: Bluetooth LE Audio is a lossy codec. Therefore, Bluetooth LE Audio is not suitable for using Deezer HiFi or Tidal to play streaming music. At present, almost no audio product supports Bluetooth LE Audio.

Currently, Samsung says Galaxy Buds2 Pro will support the technology in the future, and OnePlus says Buds Pro 2 will follow suit.
