DLSS is an acronym for deep learning supersampling, an image scaling technology developed by Nvidia that can be used in video games in real time. This technology uses deep learning to scale a lower-resolution image to a higher-resolution image for display on a higher-resolution computer monitor.

There are two main forms of DLSS: DLSS 2 amplification (DLSS 2 upscaling) and DLSS 3 frame generation (DLSS 3 frame generation). Both are not oversampling (super-sampling), but upsampling (up-sampling).

DLSS 2 runs in space and DLSS 3 runs in time. It's just that the existing DLSS 2 DLL has been upgraded to version 3.x, reducing confusion with DLSS 3 frame generation.

DLSS 3.1.1 DLL actually includes all the behind-the-scenes configuration files prior to DLSS 2. This means that you can switch between different DLL upgrade presets in your application without swapping DLSS. This is very convenient, but of course, the game must have this feature built in.

The DLSSTweaks tool can choose your DLSS presets (usually done by game developers and hidden in the game), and also allows you to force DLAA to be enabled in most games that support DLSS upgrades.

The legacy of Hogwarts is essentially a DLSS 2 upgrade running at its original resolution with DLAA enabled at native 4K. DLAA is essentially an upgrade. In fact, it's basically a form of time anti-aliasing, and Nvidia says it's better than a typical TAA solution.

Foreign technology media hothardware has conducted tests on "Deep Rock Galaxy" (Deep Rock Galactic), "Monster Hunter rise" (Monster Hunter Rise) and, more recently, "Hogwarts Legacy" (Hogwarts Legacy). Without DLSS, the improvement of DLAA is relatively small.
