Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--

CTOnews.com, February 15, according to CNBC, Apple is "interested" in obtaining the rights to NBA streaming services. Other interested companies include Amazon and NBC Sports, NBC Universal and so on.

NBC Universal's goal is to reach an agreement that will allow it to broadcast the NBA playoffs on the NBC network, some of which will be broadcast exclusively by the Peacock streaming service. The report did not specify what other potential buyers, such as Apple, might be interested in.

CTOnews.com learned that NBC owned the rights to NBA until Disney and Turner Sports bought them more than 20 years ago, and negotiations could not resume unless Turner Sports and Disney agreed to abandon the exclusive negotiation window, which expires in April 2024. NBA may eventually choose to extend its contracts with Disney and Turner Sports rather than accept bids from outside companies, but Apple now has an opportunity to bid.

CNBC believes that NBA can create two packages for bidders, and the content of three or four partners will be distributed between streaming and traditional TV.

Apple has been developing sports content to attract new audiences to Apple TV + streaming services. The company has signed agreements with Major League Baseball and Major League Football. Major League Baseball (MLS) games will be launched in February next year, and MLS season tickets will cost $14.99 a month or $99 per season, while Major League Baseball (MLB) content was first released on Friday Night (Friday Night Baseball) last spring.
