For every percentage point we add to the search advertising market, we generate an additional $2 billion in revenue for our advertising business.

According to Statcounter, Bing has a slightly higher share of the search market than 3%. Google has nearly 93% market share. Bing is so far behind google that microsoft's goal at this stage is not to replace google, but to increase market share as much as possible, with each percentage point increase generating billions of dollars in revenue for microsoft.
