CTOnews.com, February 13, the latest report from Counterpoint Research Research Institute estimates that the bill of materials (BoM) of the 128GB standard Apple iPhone 14 Pro Max averages $464 (currently about 3160 yuan). This figure is 3.7% higher than the BoM of iPhone 13 Pro Max, in which Apple's new A16 chip, AOD display and 48MP main camera are marked as the main drivers of high cost.

The iPhone 14 Pro Max millimeter wave model BoM for the US market costs $474( currently about RMB 3228), while a version of sub-6Ghz sold in other markets costs $454( currently about RMB 3092). For reference, the 128GB version of iPhone 14 Pro Max retails for $1099 in the United States (currently about 7484 yuan).

Detailed component price breakdown estimates that Apple's spending on the A16 Bionic chip has increased by $11 (currently about 75 yuan) compared with previous products, pushing up the cost of the component to account for 20% of the total BoM price. Compared with the iPhone 13 Pro Max, new displays with AOD capabilities on the iPhone 14 Pro Max account for 1 per cent more BoM costs. In other ways, the 48MP's main camera and accompanying modules add about $6.30 to the cost of the new phone (currently about 43 yuan).

Compared with iPhone 13 Pro Max, the new iPhone 14 Pro Max cellular connection components are about 13% cheaper. Apple's self-designed components within the iPhone 14 Pro Max, including touch control, connection, audio and power management circuits, account for a large share of the BoM cost of the phone. Counterpoint Research estimates that self-designed components now account for about 22% of the cost of mobile BoM.

CTOnews.com learned that the display panel used by the iPhone 14 Pro Max was provided by Samsung. Sony supplies Apple with image sensors. Shunyu Optics, Da Liguang and GSEO are suppliers of master camera 7p lenses, while LG Innotek provides modules. GSEO and Shunyu Optics are major suppliers of front-facing camera lenses. Qualcomm Qualcomm, Qorvo, Skyworks and Broadcom Broadcom are suppliers of iPhone 14 Pro Max cellular components. Armor and SanDisk provide NAND flash memory for iPhone 14 Pro Max, while SK Hynix, Samsung and Micron provide LPDDR5 memory. NXP NXP and Broadcom Broadcom remain suppliers of wireless connectivity, display and touch control solutions for the device. Cirrus Logic, Goertek, Knowles and AAC dominate the audio-related design. Texas Instruments TI and STMicroelectronics ST Micro are major suppliers of iPhone 14 Pro Max power and battery management IC.
