Samsung has partnered with accessories maker Slash B Slash to launch a range of environmentally friendly accessories for Galaxy smartphones, Galaxy wearables and Freestyle projectors. The company also opened a flash store in Hyundai Seoul, Yoido, South Korea, showing "Eco-Friends" accessories from Galaxy S23, Galaxy Z Flip 4, Galaxy Buds 2 Pro and Galaxy Watch 5. These accessories are made of more than 40% PCM (post-consumer materials), including recycled plastic and vegan leather.

Samsung said the project was driven by young employees (on average in their 20s). These accessories reflect the MZ generation's pursuit of valuable consumption and expression of personal taste.

CTOnews.com learned that Samsung first introduced the Eco-Friends accessories line on IFA 2022 and has since expanded its range of such accessories in more than 28 countries. The accessories in the series are Gatorade, Hello Kitty, Muzik Tiger, Bao Ke Meng, SpongeBob, Star Wars, the Simpsons and so on.

The accessories are designed through the SMAPP (Samsung Mobile Accessories Partnership Program), and in addition to 39 environmentally friendly accessories, 150 other mobile phone accessories are displayed in the store. Visitors can even customize accessories according to their own preferences.

To attract more customers to its pop-up store, Samsung also arranged live events for artists to use S Pen to create paintings for visitors and sign accessories for customers.

In addition, Park Sung-sun (vice president), head of module design for Samsung's mobile business (MX) department, said at a press conference on the 13th that Samsung plans to use recycled materials for its new Galaxy products by 2025, ban plastic packaging, and increase the utilization rate of recycled plastics for its smartphones to 100% by 2050, Yonhap news agency reported.
