CTOnews.com February 13 news, according to South Korean media TheElec reported that Meta will cooperate with South Korean parts manufacturers SK Hynix and LG Display to develop MicroOLED panels.

LG Display is a manufacturer of OLED display panels in Korea. The company recently signed a cooperation agreement with South Korean memory chip maker SK Hynix to develop and produce MicroOLED.

Sources said that LG Display has signed an agreement with Meta, SK Hynix is also close to signing an agreement with Meta. Among them, SK Hynix will produce wafers for the chip; LG Display is responsible for the final step of processing, depositing OLED on the wafer and then cutting it into MicroOLED panels.

The MicroOLED panel has ultra-high definition resolution while being thinner and smaller, making it the best choice for mixed reality (XR) devices.

According to sources, SK Hynix plans to invest 30000 wafers per month between 2025 and 2026 to produce MicroOLED wafers using 28nm or 45nm traditional nodes.
