CTOnews.com February 13, Samsung Galaxy S23 series has brought a lot of minor improvements, but there is no significant upgrade in charging power. The Galaxy S23 continues to use a maximum of 25W fast charging, while the Galaxy S23 + and Galaxy S23 Ultra support 45W fast charging (similar to their predecessors). However, the Galaxy S23 Ultra charges slightly faster than the Galaxy S22 Ultra.

GSMArena tested the charging speed of Samsung Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23 + and Galaxy S23 Ultra. Tests show that using a 45W fast charger, the Galaxy S23 Ultra can be charged to 68% in 30 minutes. By contrast, the Galaxy S22 Ultra can be recharged to 61% in 30 minutes. For comparison, the Xiaomi 12s Ultra supports 67W fast charging, which is 4 per cent more than the Galaxy S23 Ultra within 30 minutes.

When using a 45W USB PD3.0 charger with PPS (programmable power supply), the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra can be fully charged in 59 minutes. This number is similar to the Galaxy S22 Ultra with the same charger. And only 9 minutes slower than Xiaomi 12s Ultra. Phones in the same market segment as Apple and Google take much longer to be fully charged.

CTOnews.com learned that the slight increase in charging speed in the first 30 minutes may be due to Samsung's improved cooling solution. The charging speed also depends on the temperature of the equipment. Because the Galaxy S23 Ultra has a larger cooling solution that supports more efficient cooling, resulting in faster charging speed. However, despite similar cooling solutions, Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S23 + do not show a significant improvement in charging speed.
