When Angela Ahrendts, Apple's former retail chief, left the iPhone maker four years ago, Apple had not yet identified a clear successor for her, so Deirdre O'Brien, who was in charge of human resources, was hired as retail head.

It makes sense: the vast majority of Apple employees are retail employees, and O'Brien helped Apple open its first flagship stores 20 years ago. But it is clear that human resources and retail are two very important and vastly different responsibilities, so it makes sense for Apple to separate them.

Especially given that Apple is now dealing with employee radicalism and union demands, as well as launching a new round of retail expansion. During the outbreak, the expansion of Apple's retail stores stalled, especially when the peak of the epidemic forced many retail stores to suspend business. But they are now ready to press ahead with store plans in places such as India and Malaysia.

That's why Apple handed over O'Brien 's human resources work to Sepheus, who is about to change jobs from Medtronic in March. Cerpheus will be the first CPO in Apple's history, but with exactly the same responsibilities as O'Brien did when he was head of retail.

In fact, what is really surprising is that Apple waited four years to decide to split its human resources and retail responsibilities. Even Apple CEO Tim Tim Cook said in an email to employees that he had always wanted to split the two responsibilities. As to why it took so long to finally achieve, the reason behind it is unknown.

Personnel changes have also been a major challenge for Apple over the past few months. After the departure of Evans Hankey, head of industrial design, COO Jeff Williams (Jeff Williams) was in charge of more responsibilities on Apple's design team. At the same time, Adrien Andrian Perica, head of M & A, took over some of the responsibilities of the service division after the departure of Peter Stern, head of the services business.

In addition, Apple will hold its annual shareholders' meeting on March 10. Cook and general counsel Kate Adams (Kate Adams) and others will be present. Although Apple's shareholder meetings rarely reveal major news, they still vote on issues such as the board of directors and executive pay.
