Last fall, Apple released a new version of the Apple TV 4K, which uses a new A15 bionic chip, supports the HDR 10bike, and a new Siri Remote remote control that uses the USB-C interface to charge. CTOnews.com learned that in addition to switching to USB-C, the 2022 Apple TV 4K comes with the same Siri Remote remote control as the previous generation, and Apple also sold it as a separate accessory to the previous generation of Apple TV users.

On Reddit and Apple's supporting websites, there are a large number of user posts complaining about the connection problems between the Apple TV and the Siri Remote remote control. These problems seem to be unique to the new Siri Remote remote control.

Users report that the Siri Remote remote control is often disconnected from their Apple TV, without any rules. These users say the Siri Remote remote is disconnected when the Apple TV plays something, usually minutes after the remote is used to play the content.

One Reddit user explained:

I thought maybe the remote control was broken, so I charged it for hours. The remote control then displays "connected" at the top corner, but is disconnected after 30 seconds. It was repeated several times in the next few minutes. I restarted Apple TV, and then the remote was reconnected and didn't care about it. But two days later, the same thing happened. A full restart of Apple TV is required for the remote control to be connected. Throughout the process, I can use the control center remote control on my iPhone, no problem.

The latest Apple TV 4K and USB-C Siri Remote remote controls were released in November, and since then Apple has released several updates to tvOS 16, including tvOS 16.1.1, tvOS 16.2, tvOS 16.3 and tvOS 16.3. However, none of these updates solves the above problems.

Twitter user @ aaronp613 also pointed out that the new Siri Remote remote control itself has not received a firmware update since its initial launch in November.
