The multi-unmanned platforms with different functions which can run in sea, land, air and other spatial domains are formed as an organic whole, so that they can complement each other by means of information sharing and fusion, behavior interaction and coordination, task coordination and cooperation, which will greatly enhance the ability of the whole unmanned system to cope with the cross-domain complex environment, and play a very important role in improving the global empathy guidance technology. However, between water and air, it is difficult to achieve effective information transmission between cross-media nodes by using traditional communication technology, which restricts the cross-domain cooperation of unmanned systems in this scenario. Therefore, to develop an unmanned platform with cross-domain shuttle and cruise ability to act as a messenger in cross-domain collaborative systems and to achieve information transmission and interaction between cross-media nodes is an effective means to solve the cross-domain cooperation of unmanned systems.
In this regard, the team developed a water-air cross-domain cruise prototype "Tongji Flying Fish". It adopts a four-rotor configuration design with a water-air dual-purpose propulsion unit and a rudder tilting mechanism. it weighs 1.63 kg and has a wheelbase of 380 millimeters. it has the ability of cross-domain shuttle and dual-domain cruise, and can hover in the air for 6 minutes. cruise under water for about 40 minutes.
The different hydrodynamic characteristics of water and air tested by "Tongji Flying Fish" put forward completely different requirements for the working range of the thruster and the overall working equilibrium point of the system. In order to solve the problem of cross-medium propulsion, the cruiser is equipped with a miniature two-speed gearbox to switch the working area of the thruster to adapt to different media environments, greatly simplify the structure and reduce the weight, while ensuring the operation efficiency in the two media. In order to solve the problem of the equilibrium point of the system, the cruiser increases the tilting degree of the rudder surface on the basis of the traditional rotor aircraft, and changes the direction of the thrust vector underwater to switch the working mode of the system. through the structural changes to meet the different requirements of the balance point of the water and air media to the system, the cross-domain maneuverability and maneuverability are greatly improved. In addition, the cruiser body is equipped with a cross-domain positioning and navigation system composed of GPS, inertial measurement unit (IMU), depth meter and miniature Doppler speedometer (DVL), which has the ability of automatic control in underwater, air and cross-medium processes.
The Science Center, in conjunction with Tongji Flying Fish developed by the team of the Chinese University of Hong Kong, combined with a series of intelligent equipment such as underwater "Moray eel" and "Popeye" software robot developed by the Science Center, is expected to support major strategies and needs such as national maritime security and resource exploration.
