CTOnews.com, February 12 (Xinhua)-- Meta, the parent company of Facebook, has postponed the budget of several teams because it is preparing for a new round of layoffs, according to the Financial Times.

Two Meta employees familiar with the situation said the company had been uncertain about its budget and future number of employees in recent weeks.

Meta had no immediate comment.

Earlier this month, Meta announced that it expected to spend between $89 billion and $95 billion in 2023, a period that CEO Mark Zuckerberg called the "year of efficiency."

CTOnews.com has reported that the company, which owns WhatsApp, Facebook and Instagram, announced in November that it had laid off more than 11000 jobs, or 13% of its workforce. In addition, technology companies such as Amazon and Microsoft have announced thousands of layoffs because of the economic downturn.
