Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--
CTOnews.com, February 11 (Xinhua)-- Bloomberg shares some new data and charts in its latest article, explaining why Apple did not have the same mass layoffs as Microsoft, Google and Amazon.
CTOnews.com has previously published an article on "Microsoft and Amazon have laid off staff" through the winter, why Apple has not yet heard the news of layoffs, according to CNBC. The Bloomberg article is more detailed and more data-rich, but for the same reason: careful expansion of the team during the outbreak, efficiency and profitability in all areas of its business.
Careful expansion of the team during the outbreak:
According to the Bloomberg report, the number of employees of companies such as Amazon, Meta and Salesforce roughly doubled between 2019 and 2022, with an increase of about 100%, while that of Apple increased by only 20%.
As noted by Bloomberg, Alphabet and Amazon recently laid off about 30000 employees. Meanwhile, Zoom has just announced that it will lay off 15 per cent of its global workforce.
Apple did slow down hiring in 2022, which some believe is because the company froze hiring, but slowing it can avoid layoffs.
Efficiency and profitability in all areas of its business:
Over the past six years, each additional employee has more than doubled the company's revenue, according to Bloomberg.
Back in 2017-2019, Apple earned $1.17 million for each additional employee, the same as Alphabet and Microsoft.
Then from 2020 to 2022, that number more than doubled to $2.51 million, as it increased profits while being more cautious about hiring. At the same time, most major technology companies have seen the index decline or barely grow.
Apple's strong foundation business and efficiency are, of course, a key part of the amazing revenue growth for each additional employee. But combining ultra-high-margin businesses with much lower growth in hiring over the past few years is why these indicators stand out from other tech giants.
