CTOnews.com, February 11, according to the latest statistics released by market research firm Counterpoint, Apple accounted for more than 90% of the notebook market with ARM chips in 2022. This is mainly due to Apple's Apple Silicon chip, which completely dominates the ARM notebook market.

Apple introduced the M1 chip for the first time in the MacBook series launched in 2020, with excellent power management and long battery life.

According to Counterpoint Research, the market share of ARM-based laptops began to increase in a very short time, from less than 2 per cent to more than 12 per cent by the end of 2022.

Apple dominated the ARM laptop market with a 90 per cent share in 2022. Apple's migration to its self-designed CPU has proved to be a boost for vendors who wait and see to develop ARM-based solutions.

In addition to Apple, MediaTek and Qualcomm are also actively promoting ARM chips for PC and servers. Qualcomm is expected to launch the Oryon CPU this fall. The Qualcomm and MediaTek solutions are likely to grow by more than 50 per cent year-on-year on ARM laptops between 2024 and 2025.

CTOnews.com learned from Counterpoint that it expects ARM-based laptops to account for up to 25 per cent of the market by 2027, which does not bode well for both Intel and AMD.
