Beijing, February 11 (Xinhua)-- Google launched its own competitor, Bard, in response to the popularity of the chat robot ChatGPT this week, but flipped over in its first demonstration. Subsequently, Google employees criticized the way the company's management handled the release of Bud, especially CEO Sandal Sundar Pichai.

According to news and memes seen by foreign media, Google employees flocked to Memegen, a popular internal forum, to express their views on the company's announcement, describing it as "hasty", "clumsy" and "non-Google".

Photo note: Google CEO Pichai got ahead of Microsoft's press conference on Monday, when Pichai publicly revealed some details of the company's chat robot technology. Then, at an event in Paris on Wednesday, Google revealed more about Bard. Between these events, Microsoft, an early investor in ChatGPT developer OpenAI, showed how its Bing search engine would be integrated with ChatGPT and invited reporters to participate in a demonstration at the company's headquarters in Redmond, Washington.

At Google's presentation on Wednesday, search engine director Prabhakar Raghavan briefly shared some slides with examples of Bud functions. At the same time, someone on Twitter began to point out that Bud's description of the telescope that took the first pictures of extrasolar planets was incorrect.

Although Google employees often humorously poke fun at the company's eccentricities and mistakes on Memegen, their posts after Bard's announcement were more serious, even directed at Pichai.

"Dear Sandal, Bud's announcements and layoffs are hasty, clumsy and short-sighted," one meme wrote, accompanied by a serious picture of Pichai. "Please return to the long-term outlook." This post has been liked by many employees.

"Sandal and his leadership deserve a Perf NI," another critically acclaimed meme wrote (Perf NI refers to the lowest gear in Google's employee performance appraisal system). "they are ridiculously short-sighted in their pursuit of focus, unlike Google."

Last year, Pichai called on employees to be more focused. Google's leadership often pleads with employees to become "Google". Google roughly means being ambitious, working hard, and taking into account respect and teamwork.

"the rush to push Bud into the market in a panic confirmed the market's fear of us." A highly rated meme wrote that the attached photo was a bird covering his face.

Google has yet to comment. Shares in Alphabet, Google's parent company, tumbled more than 9 per cent this week on concerns that ChatGPT posed a threat to Google's core search business and the company's accelerated response to Microsoft's activities.
