To this end, the US Federal Trade Commission (FTC) will also issue a subpoena to the company's competitors in the Microsoft lawsuit, requiring it to disclose some business details to help it defend in the FTC's internal court. However, Sony said the number of subpoenas it received was "very large", while Microsoft's request was "obvious harassment".

Sony mentioned these statements in recent court filings, and the company asked the court to revoke or restrict the subpoena issued by Microsoft on January 17.

Microsoft, on the other hand, said in its filing that the two sides had failed to agree on a request to view the Greg McCurdy file. However, they believe that "there is no need to look at the documents held by lawyers for communications related to transactions. This case does not need to be done at all. After all, it depends on whether Microsoft's acquisition of Activision will reduce competition." However, Microsoft said McCurdy's role at Sony was not limited to lawyers, but also to government affairs and public policy initiatives.

As Sony has always believed that the merger will have an impact on its business, Microsoft also wants to prove that Sony is still competitive enough after the merger.
