February 10, according to foreign media reports, on Thursday, local time, Lucid Group announced that it will provide 7500 US dollars in subsidies to consumers who buy some of its Lucid Air models.

Lucid Group said that the offer is only applicable to specific configurations of Air Touring and Air Grand Touring models. Customers must place orders before March 31 this year and deliver them before the end of April in order to enjoy the subsidy.

Foreign media reported that Lucid's move was seen as a response to the global "price war" launched by Tesla. In recent months, Tesla has opened price cuts in major markets such as China, the United States, Europe, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.

Lucid's move is similar to the tax credit for electric vehicles offered by the US government, but this time it is offered to consumers out of its own pocket, not by the US government.

According to the US inflation reduction Act passed in August last year, consumers who buy qualified electric vehicles and pick up their cars after that time will receive a tax credit of up to $7500 from January 1, 2023. The new tax credit, which will last until 2032, aims to stimulate sales of electric vehicles and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

At the end of December 2022, foreign media reported that 14 electric vehicle manufacturers, including Tesla, Volkswagen and Ford, were eligible for the new US electric vehicle tax credit in 2023.

It is reported that prices start at $107400 for Lucid Air Touring and $138000 for Lucid Grand Touring. Under the inflation reduction Act, these models are not eligible for a $7500 federal tax credit, which is capped at $55000.

Although the company is not eligible for a new federal tax credit, it can offer its own subsidies to attract buyers.
