According to the latest data from research firm Counterpoint Research, laptops with Arm chips will have a 25% market share within five years.

Shipments in the global PC market fell 15% year-on-year in 2022, and high single-digit declines are expected in 2023, according to Counterpoint Research.

Although total shipments of laptops will continue to decline, demand for laptops based on Arm chips is expected to remain strong.

Tuyuan PexelsCounterpoint Research predicts that notebooks with Arm chips are expected to show relatively resilient demand in all PC sub-industries in the coming quarters, thanks to the success of Apple's MacBook series, increased ecosystem support and the disappearance of the performance gap with x86 products.

Apple is reported to be the largest buyer of Arm chips for laptops, accounting for 90 per cent of all notebooks with Arm chips last year.

Laptops with Arm chips accounted for 13 per cent of the market in 2022 and are expected to grow to 25 per cent by 2027. Intel dominated the laptop market with nearly 70 per cent of the market in 2022 and is expected to lose 10 per cent of its market share to ARM by 2027.
