CTOnews.com, February 10, the past half a month, a number of information sources have said that Huawei smart car solution BU (referred to as "car BU") has undergone a number of personnel changes, car BU COO, intelligent driving solution product line president Wang Jun has been suspended, while Yu Chengdong will be in charge of the smart car business alone.

In response to the news, Huawei Managing Director, Consumer BG CEO and Smart car solution BU CEO Yu Chengdong responded to China Finance and Economics:

"[this time] it is a normal personnel change, and there is no change in the direction of [Huawei's car business]." Some people think that the personnel transfer is related to the poor business progress of Wang Jun, and Yu Chengdong called it "online hype" about the many speculation about Huawei's strategic adjustment.

You may have more or less heard that Huawei's auto business is mainly divided into three parts-Huawei HI model, smart car model and Tier-like auto parts supplier model.

Previously, Wang Jun was in charge of the HI model, which packed major systems, including smart driving and intelligent modules, into the car, and was an enhanced version of the supply of auto parts. The HI model has successively signed three car companies, namely BAIC Polar Fox, Changan Avita and Guangzhou Automobile.

In April 2021, Yu Chengdong became car BU CEO, and Wang Jun's post of "President of car BU" was removed and transferred to President of COO and Intelligent driving Solutions product line. Yu Chengdong led the smart car model and then launched AITO M5 and M7 models with Cyrus Group.

There are several obvious differences between the HI model and the smart car: the former is printed with the "HI" logo and is equipped with Huawei's advanced smart driving program ADS, while the smart car does not, but the smart car has the smoothest Hongmeng car in the industry, which is far more perfect than the HI model.

Huawei's HI model seems to have launched only two models so far-- the polar fox Alpha S HI version (which starts delivery in July 2022) has poor sales, while the second model, the Avita 11, just started delivery at the end of December 2022, and CTOnews.com hasn't seen a bright report card yet. At the same time, ADS, the main product feature of the HI model, is also a product line dominated by Wang Jun, and its delivery is significantly later than expected.

Compared with the lukewarm HI model, Zhixuan has performed brilliantly after ushering in the M & J series. Since its delivery in March last year, AITO sold more than 75000 cars by the end of 2022, and the cheapest M5 will cost more than 250000 yuan, making it one of the two fastest-growing new car brands in 2022.
