CTOnews.com February 9 news, panel manufacturer Youda Optoelectronics yesterday announced the fourth quarter of 2022 results, although the overall panel economy is weak, but in the low unit price product shipments increase, the energy industry bets, the quarterly loss compared with the previous quarter has converged.

Youda lost about NT $10.207 billion (currently about NT $2.307 billion) after tax in the fourth quarter of last year, or NT $1.33 per share. The cumulative loss for the whole of last year was 21.101 billion New Taiwan dollars (currently about 4.769 billion yuan), or 2.39 yuan per share, the lowest in nearly a decade.

Youda Radio and Television had revenue of 52.648 billion New Taiwan dollars (currently about 11.898 billion yuan) in the fourth quarter of 2022, up 5.86 per cent from a month earlier and down 46.85 per cent from a year earlier. Revenue in 2022 was NT $246.792 billion (currently about 55.775 billion yuan), down 33.4% from the same period last year, with a gross profit margin of 0.64% and 23.85% less than the same period last year.

In terms of shipments, Youda's total panel shipping area reached 4.322 million square meters in the fourth quarter of 2022, an increase of 11.5% month-on-month and a decrease of 33.6% over the same period last year. Last year, the total panel shipping area reached 19.17 million square meters, down 25.4% from the same period last year.

Looking back on 2022, Youda Optoelectronics said that the company faced severe challenges in operation, the demand dividend brought about by the home economy in the previous two years gradually faded, and the weak terminal consumer demand due to war, inflation, interest rate hikes and other factors, coupled with high overall inventory and rapid customer demand freeze, led to the company's annual revenue decline compared with the previous year and turned to a loss, but Youda stressed that the company's overall financial structure was sound. The number of inventory days in the fourth quarter was 48 days, a decrease of 6 days compared with the previous quarter, and the net debt ratio was 3.3%, maintaining a healthy level.

Looking forward to 2023, Youda Optoelectronics pointed out that most of the economic forecasts are very low growth or even recession, which is still a very challenging year. In the face of the uncertainty of the general environment, it will actively improve the efficiency of management, strengthen the control of cash flow and expenses, and speed up the speed of two-axis transformation, looking forward to better performance in the vertical field, while enabling Youda to operate more steadily in the environment of fluctuations in the panel industry.

CTOnews.com learned that Youda Optoelectronics also said at the law conference that after four or five quarters of adjustment, Youda inventory has returned to a healthy level. Although there are still many uncertainties this year, it is relatively early to see the TV panel warming up, and it is expected that the IT panel will return to seasonal demand in the second half of the year. Ke Furen, general manager of Youda, said that this year it is prepared to be equipped with Micro LED wearable equipment in mass production, with a size of more than 2 inches, and is expected to be officially mass produced in the second half of the year, produced by Taiwan's Longtan Factory. The launch time mainly depends on the time to market of end customers, but it should be a leading mass production manufacturer and the first Micro LED wearable product on the market.
