CTOnews.com February 9 news, Shunyu Optical Technology announced on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange today that shipments of mobile phone lenses in January were 66.673 million, down 49.3% from the same period last year; shipments of mobile camera modules were 40.72 million, down 18.6% from the same period last year; and shipments of car lenses were 9.181 million, up 22.0% from the same period last year.

Shunyu Optics said that shipments of mobile phone lenses and mobile camera modules fell 49.3% and 18.6% respectively, mainly due to the high base of shipments in the same period last year and the weak demand in the overall smartphone market.

Shipments of in-car lenses increased by 22.0% year-on-year, mainly because the market demand for in-car cameras increased with the relief of shortage of key parts in the automobile supply chain; month-on-month increase of 86.8% was mainly due to the low base of shipments due to the impact of Christmas holidays on clients in December last year.

As previously reported by CTOnews.com, Shunyu Optics has joined Samsung's supply chain to provide lenses and camera modules used in Samsung smartphones.
