CTOnews.com February 9, Microsoft today released 1.2023.118.0 update of its MSIX Packaging Tool packaging tool, adding support for packaged portable Windows applications.

MSIX Packaging Tool users and IT administrators can repackage Windows applications into MSIX format for users to share, and MSIX packages can be installed on Windows 11 and Windows 10 systems. The software provides an interactive user interface and a command line for conversion.

The portable Windows application itself carries all the dll needed to run the software, such as the "green version" software that we often see, and can share the application folder directly with other PC to run. Once packaged in MSIX format, portable applications will have only one file, which is more convenient and faster, and you can try to abandon the previous compressed package form.

In addition, MSIX Packaging Tool adds the ability to exclude dependencies on Windows services from MSIX packages, making it easier for users to cope with different packaging scenarios.
