CTOnews.com, February 9 (Xinhua)-- Clay Bavor, who has worked for Google for 18 years and is in charge of AR / VR development, announced his departure next month. Google's current AR development will be supervised by Hiroshi Lockheimer and Rick Osterloh.

According to the foreign science and technology media 9to5Google, the AR work previously within the purview of Bavor is being transferred to Lockheimer's platform and ecosystem (Platforms & Ecosystems) department and Osterloh's equipment and services (Devices & Services) department. Therefore, no one will directly replace the role of Bavor.

CTOnews.com inquired about the relevant information and learned that the platform and ecosystem departments are mainly responsible for the development and maintenance of Android system, Play Store and other software. The equipment and services department flips hardware such as Pixel phones, Pixel Watch, Fitbit, Chromecast and Nest speakers, monitors and cameras.

However, this internal Google adjustment does not mean that Google has slowed down its pace in the AR / VR field, and this month Google announced a partnership with Samsung on mixed reality (XR). Google hopes to promote the AR / VR market with the development model of Android.
