CTOnews.com February 9, Microsoft recently released Win11 Build 25276, reminding users that the diagnostic tool Microsoft Support Diagnostic Tool (MSDT) will be phased out in 2025. Microsoft officially released the support document today, explicitly abandoning the platform.

Microsoft Support Diagnostic Tool (MSDT) is called Microsoft support Diagnostic tool in Chinese. MSDT collects information to be sent to Microsoft support. Microsoft support will then analyze this information and use it to determine and resolve any problems that may be encountered on the computer.

An important reason for Microsoft to abandon MSDT is that the tool has been abused by hackers and can be used to execute code remotely (RCE). Last year, security researchers discovered two vulnerabilities, Follina and DogWalk, one of which was unofficially patched.

Microsoft is deactivating older Windows inbox troubleshooting, such as keyboard and voice troubleshooting, and the Microsoft support Diagnostic tool (MSDT) that runs them. The old version comes with Windows troubleshooting is a built-in tool that automatically diagnoses and corrects common problems with various Windows features at startup. MSDT troubleshooting will be deprecated in the next Windows 11 release, with a date to be determined.

It is expected that the abandoned timeline will be carried out in the next three years:

2023-start redirecting some troubleshooting to the new get help troubleshooting platform

2024-complete troubleshooting redirection and remove the rest of the troubleshooter

2025-remove the MSDT platform
