CTOnews.com, February 9 (Xinhua)-- the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) has announced the selection of Tesla's Model Y as its first all-electric police car, which will be put into use in southern Vancouver Island in the future, according to CTV News.

RCMP said that according to 2020 statistics, the average refueling and maintenance cost of traditional fuel patrol police cars is about 11000 Canadian dollars (currently about 55530.70 yuan), and switching to Tesla Model Y is expected to help reduce emissions and maintenance costs.

"this is the first all-electric RCMP police car in history and we are proud to test it in the West Bank unit," said Todd Preston, chief superintendent of RCMP. Our location and mild winter weather make it an ideal test environment.
