According to foreign media reports, Tesla Model Y became the best-selling electric car in Germany in January this year.

Since Tesla entered the German market, its sales in Germany have been growing. In 2022, Tesla beat his long-time rival Volkswagen to win the top spot in electric car sales in Germany.

According to KBA, the German vehicle registration agency, Tesla sold 69962 pure electric vehicles in Germany in 2022, while Volkswagen sold 63206 electric vehicles.

KBA found that Tesla's sales in Germany rose 912.2 per cent year-on-year in January 2023.

In September 2022, Tesla Model Y beat Volkswagen Golf and Volkswagen Tiguan for the first time to become the best-selling car in Germany, the first time in German history that electric cars sold more than any other gasoline car on the market.

In November 2022, Model 3 replaced Model Y as the best-selling electric car in Germany. Car registration tracking data from German agencies show that 6811 Model 3 were sold in Germany that month.

According to KBA, the top three cars sold in Germany in December 2022 were Tesla Model 3, Fiat 500 and Tesla Model Y.
