CTOnews.com, February 8, Google Chrome browsers on Windows and macOS can choose to perform biometric confirmation such as fingerprints before automatically filling in payment information. Google announced a new Credential Manager API yesterday that allows users to authenticate with fingerprints before filling in their passwords.

Credential Manager API aggregates all the available login methods of the application into one list while removing duplicate data for entries in the same account. This simplification allows users to focus on selecting accounts without knowing the underlying login technology.

This allows Android application developers to "simplify the user authentication process" by supporting user names / passwords, federated login solutions (such as using Google login), and keys. The API is currently in the alpha phase.
