Beijing, Feb. 8 (Xinhua) Microsoft released a new version of Bing search engine (https://www.bing.com/new) and Edge browser on Tuesday, using the latest technology from ChatGPT developer OpenAI, which aims to weaken Google's search dominance by taking the lead in providing more conversational web search and alternative ways to create content.

The new version of Bing search Microsoft CEO Satyanadra (Satya Nadella) said at an event held at its Washington headquarters on Tuesday that "this technology will reshape almost all software categories" and that it is "time" to restore Internet search innovation.

New Bing search uses an upgraded version of the AI model GPT 3.5, which is more powerful than GPT 3.5 used by ChatGPT. It can better answer search queries with the latest information and annotated answers, and can cut in and out of chat mode. Its search query box can receive up to 1000 characters.

In the demonstration, Microsoft Vice President Yusuf Mahdi (Yusuf Mehdi) asked the chat-based engine about the Super Bowl this weekend in Scottsdale, Arizona. New Bing returned information about Super Bowl parties, cooking events and other related events. The enhanced service can also estimate whether Ikea's double seats are suitable for Honda Odyssey in 2019. Bing told Mahdi that this is not certain, depending on whether the second and third rows of the vehicle are folded. The new Bing search engine currently offers limited previews on desktop computers and will be launched on mobile devices in the coming weeks.

New Edge browser the new Edge browser adds an artificial intelligence-based Bing search for chatting and writing text, which summarizes web pages and responds to queries in dialogue. These answers are accompanied by references to their sources, so users can see where the information comes from.

Microsoft shares were up 4.20% as of Tuesday's close.
