CTOnews.com February 7 news, Lenovo Group today officially released net-zero emissions target (net-zero) roadmap, will achieve the overall value chain net zero emissions in fiscal year 2049/50.

Lenovo said that, unlike the early-discussed carbon neutralization target, the net zero target is considered to be the gold standard for deep decarbonization of current industries and enterprises. The goal is not just to achieve "neutrality" between emissions and absorption, but to require companies to commit to reducing all greenhouse gas emissions that can be reduced, and then to achieving and maintaining net zero in the long term through other means, in order to support global climate goals with absolute emission reductions. Compared with carbon neutralization, net zero target requires higher emission reduction requirements for enterprises, and low-carbon transformation is more thorough.

Lenovo's long-term goal is to reduce absolute GHG emissions in Scopes 1, 2 and 3 by 90% from baseline levels in FY 2018/19 by FY 2049/50. Among them,"Scope 1" refers to direct emissions from factory-owned machines,"Scope 2" includes indirect emissions caused by energy purchases, and "Scope 3" covers all other emissions occurring throughout the value chain, such as Lenovo Group's global logistics, customer use of products, etc.

By fiscal year 2029/30, reduce absolute GHG emissions in Scope 1 and Scope 2 by 50 per cent from baseline levels in fiscal year 2018/19;

By fiscal year 2029/30, reduce Scope 3 greenhouse gas emissions from the use of Lenovo sold products by an average of 35 per cent compared to comparable products;

By fiscal year 2029/30, reduce Scope 3 greenhouse gas emissions per million gross profit dollars from purchased goods and services by 66.5 per cent;

By fiscal year 2029/30, reduce Scope 3 GHG emissions from upstream transport and distribution by 25 per cent per tonne of transported product.
