CTOnews.com February 7 news, in response to the rumor that "due to the shortage of 3nm process technology and stopped accepting mature process orders", Samsung Electronics official responded today that the news is not consistent with the facts and misleading the market.

Samsung said that mature processes are an important part of Samsung's wafer foundry business, and the company will continue to expand mature process applications, while the company is doing its best to strengthen Samsung's technological competitiveness by stabilizing the manpower of advanced process nodes such as 3nm.

Yesterday, South Korean media reported that Samsung faced difficulties in making chips based on 3nm technology because of a shortage of talent in the semiconductor field. It is reported that Samsung has reassigned some of its fab staff from the traditional process to the 3nm process (or lower) and no longer accepts chip orders from IC designers based on 130nm and 65nm nodes.

CTOnews.com learned from Samsung Electronics' financial report that Samsung Electronics's semiconductor business revenue in the fourth quarter of 2022 was 20.07 trillion won (currently about 108.779 billion yuan) and operating profit was 270 billion won (currently about 1.463 billion yuan), down 96.9 percent from a year earlier.
