When doing PPT, do you often struggle with where to find color schemes and how to match colors?
Or, by the color theory down, do not understand the color model, do not understand the three primary colors?
I believe most people have encountered these problems when they first learned PPT. The difference is that some people understand it, and some people are trapped in it.
So I took advantage of the Spring Festival holiday to sort out this "complex" theory and turned it into several easy-to-use methods to share with you. I hope it will be helpful to you.
01. First of all, learn about the two color modes in PowerPoint software: RGB and HSL.
RGB mode:
It is what we often call the three primary colors of color light, red (R), green (G) and blue (B). If you overlap them, you can get different colors.
HSL mode:
Is hue (H), saturation (S), brightness (L), in PPT, it is recommended to use this mode to adjust the color, the change is relatively more intuitive.
02. Color matching theory HSL color matching: HSL color matching sounds difficult, in fact, you only need to adjust the brightness of the color to get a set of color cards of the same color system.
The method is also simple, first draw two color blocks with different brightness of the same color system:
Then use the tween feature in the iSlide plug-in:
A set of color schemes with the same color and different brightness can be obtained:
Adjacent color:
When doing PPT, if there are no restrictions on brand VI and logo, we often need to determine a dominant color first.
In order to enrich the color of the page, another color will be selected as the secondary color, and the adjacent color of the main color is usually a better secondary color:
The adjacent color is the color within 60 °of the color ring, and the adjacent color can be determined by drawing a range of 60 °according to the determined main color.
Complementary colors:
Complementary colors are opposite colors, and the contrast is very obvious. The two colors of 180 °in the color ring complement each other.
The above three color matching theories are all matched on the premise of determining a dominant color.
In addition, there are several tips for matching colors:
Dark background with light text
Light background with dark text
High saturation background with low dark text
Low saturation background with high brightness text.
03. Color matching monochromatic system
In most cases, we recommend the use of monochrome design, so that it looks professional, unified, and not error-prone.
For example, the following case:
As a whole, only blue and white are used, blue background with white text, or white background with blue text:
Another example is the following case:
On the whole, it can be seen that red is used as the main tone, adding neutral colors such as gray and light black to make the color level of the page more obvious.
Compared to the previous case, instead of filling the page with a large area of dominant colors, gray is chosen as the background, which is more serious and suitable for PPT on topics such as academic or data reports.
Let's take a look at a case and do it in practice:
The following page, which uses only orange and light gray, looks slightly monotonous:
Then you can add a little gradient, adjust it in HSL mode, change only the brightness, and dim the brightness:
In the end, it can be like this:
In monochromatic PPT works, by using HSL mode to adjust color matching, the same color system can be obtained by changing its brightness or saturation.
Two-color system:
If you have mastered the monochromatic system very well, you can try two-color matching next.
For example, in this case:
The overall use of blue and green has the advantage of showing the content hierarchy more clearly.
This set of PPT is taken from the enterprise's logo, in order to prevent the page is full of blue and green, but also added a large number of gray neutral colors to reconcile.
Of course, if you are afraid of using it badly, you can use blue as the dominant color and green as the embellishment color. For example, in a case we modified before, this is what we did:
This can ensure that the color is not messy and error-free to the maximum extent.
Two-color matching, the simplest and most appropriate way is to take colors from logo, and then determine a primary color, a secondary color or embellishment color, and pay attention to the use of neutral colors to reconcile colors.
Multicolor system:
Multicolor system is the most difficult, color is very difficult to grasp.
In principle, it is not recommended to have more than three colors in a PPT work, otherwise it will really make colorful black.
Let's take a look at a high-quality case we found some time ago:
Light background + multi-color collocation, set a gradient on the white background, and then use the shape gradient to make texture decoration, full of design sense.
Multicolor is mainly used in the waveform, for the page decoration and content segmentation, give people a strong visual impact.
In addition, polychromatic gradients can be used to make dispersion or fluid backgrounds, and the results are quite good:
Multicolor collocation, test the designer's sensitivity to color and aesthetic, generally no more than 3 colors will not turn over.
