Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--

Thanks to CTOnews.com netizens Wu Yanzu in South China for the delivery of clues! CTOnews.com February 7 news, last November, the source @ Kepler revealed that AMD is developing a small APU called "Phoenix 2". Its GFX ID is 1104, which is a "small version" of Phoenix.

At present, this chip has appeared in the Coreboot patch database. AMD divides its Phoenix APU into Phoenix (1) and Phoenix (2), which means that the APU will be used as the second revised version of the Ryzen 7040 series, which is hereinafter referred to as Phoenix 2.

According to Coelacanth-Dream, AMD Phoenix APU has two GFX1103 "RDNA 3" ID, one of which is GFX1103_R1, which has a full 512 KB secondary cache, while the second GFX1103_R2 has only 256 KB.

To put it simply, AMD feels that the low-power mobile platform may not be able to use the 512 KB secondary cache, so it will be castrated to half of the original in the new revision, and some manufacturers are expected to use it for entry-level platforms to replace Mendocino APU.

In fact, whistleblower @ MLID has previously mentioned a "Little Phoenix" product with similar specifications, but this is an "ultra-low power and compact" chip for Steam Deck handsets, so we can't rule out the possibility that it is the same series of products.

According to @ Kepler_L2, who has been following Phoenix 2 APU, the series of chips will also have fewer computing units, which sounds like a conservative version of Phoenix APU, and this Phoenix 2 APU efficiency data is sure to be interesting.

The first laptops with AMD Phoenix APU will be installed in March 2023, and CTOnews.com thinks we may see this Phoenix 2 product, such as handheld phones, later in 2023.
