CTOnews.com Microsoft will end support for Internet Explorer 11 on February 14, 2023. Microsoft will release an update later, and Microsoft Edge will replace IE11 as the default browser for Windows 10/ Win11 and other systems.

The official Microsoft Edge Dev Twitter account has tweeted today, with CTOnews.com translating it as follows: "Some Windows 10 versions will permanently disable the Internet Explorer 11 desktop app after installing the Microsoft Edge update released on Tuesday, February 14."

Microsoft announced on June 15, 2022 that Windows 10 20H2 and later and Win11 systems have stopped supporting IE11. Only Win10 LTSC (1507 and 1609) and Windows Server 2012 R2 still support IE11.

Microsoft will force all IE11 calls on affected operating systems to be redirected to Microsoft Chromium Edge on Patch Tuesday, February 14.

Microsoft plans to release an optional, non-secure "C" version preview update on May 23, 2023, removing visual references to IE11 in certain Windows 10 versions.

Microsoft plans to release a Windows security update (version "B") by June 13, 2023 that removes all visual references to IE11, such as the IE11 icon in the Start menu and taskbar.
