CTOnews.com February 6 news, recently, Ziguang Zhanrui announced that it has successfully completed the world's first S-band 5G NTN (non-terrestrial network, non-terrestrial network) technology satellite verification in conjunction with China Telecom Satellite Corporation, ZTE, Baicaibang, China Information and Communications Research Institute, China Telecom Guangdong Corporation and other industrial partners.

This verification adopts 3GPP R17 NTN protocol, which breaks through the protocol matching problems such as frequency synchronization, time synchronization and timing relationship enhancement brought by geostationary orbit satellite communication, realizes self-controllable end-to-end end-to-end link connectivity of 5G NTN, and preliminarily verifies the feasibility of the technical scheme of mobile directly connected satellite and integrated Internet of things based on 3GPP R17 NTN protocol.

Ziguang Zhanrui said that this verification is another important achievement in the field of space-earth integration technology, following the completion of the world's first R17 NTN satellite measurement through L-band in June 2022, which will strongly promote the development of satellite-earth integration network and communication technology, and help the integration of heaven and earth move towards greater commercial success.

CTOnews.com learned that the test terminal used in this technical satellite verification is based on Ziguang Zhareui R17 NTN chip, and connects Tiantong-1 satellite, gateway station, 5G NTN base station and terrestrial core network through S-band, so as to realize interconnection and interworking with terrestrial network. At the same time, the communication processes such as broadcasting, access and data transmission are completed, and multi-terminal access and multi-terminal interworking are realized, and the performance meets the expectations. The verification results confirm that the terminal based on Zhanrui core can be used in mobile phone directly connected satellite scenario and heaven-earth integrated Internet of things scenario.

R17 NTN technology contributes to the integration and deployment of 5G and satellite networks. On the one hand, it expands the coverage of 5G networks in ocean, desert and high altitude areas, eliminates the digital divide between remote areas and developed areas, and promotes the harmonious development of digital society and economy. On the other hand, it enables the satellite network to share the industrial scale of the cellular communication network and reduces the terminal and network costs, which provides an effective way to realize the mobile phone directly connected to the satellite and the Internet of things.
