All the test data meet the requirements, indicating that China has made great achievements in the design and manufacture of a full range of pods in the field of pod propulsion technology.

During the implementation of the project, Wuhan Shipping Machinery Company gave full play to its technical advantages in the field of marine thrusters, combined with Hubei Donghu Laboratory to start with the operating environment of ships in the ice area. It breaks through a series of design and manufacturing technical bottlenecks, such as stable operation technology of instantaneous heavy load propulsion motor system, calculation technology of pod cavitation and pulsating pressure in ice-water flow field, ice zone control strategy, system interface matching design, high precision rudder drive technology, pod package design under high impact load, reliability design of combined propeller under ice load, forming and processing technology of large structural parts, etc. Finally, we successfully completed the land joint survey test and the real ship test at sea, and obtained the product certificate of CCS Classification Society.

CTOnews.com learned that the sea test of the PC3 6MW pod propulsion device was a complete success, which completed the pod design and manufacturing technology in the two major fields of open water and ice breaking in our country, and formed a complete series of pod propulsion spectrum, which laid the foundation for the next step of comprehensive industrial application.
