CTOnews.com February 6 news, market research and consulting firm Strategy Analytics released a report, Q4 tablet shipments in 2022 fell 8% to 44.2 million units worldwide. Tablet shipments for the full year of 2022 were 162.1 million units, down 12% year-on-year as demand naturally fell from highs.

Apple and Samsung saw growth during the holiday season, accounting for 58 percent of the global tablet market, while the competitive landscape shifted to meet post-pandemic demand patterns.

CTOnews.com learned that the report shows that the top 5 global tablet PC markets in 2022 are:

Apple: 39% share, 63.5 million units sold, down 3% year-on-year

Samsung: 19% share, sales of 30.2 million units, down 4% year-on-year

Amazon: 10% share, 15.7 million units sold, down 11% year-on-year

Lenovo: 7% share, sales of 11.5 million units, down 33% year-on-year

Huawei: 3% share, sales of 5.6 million units, down 32% year-on-year

▲ Source Strategy AnalyticsStrategy Analytics said that in Q4 2022, Android phone shipments fell 18% year-on-year and market share fell to 48%. Lenovo and Huawei struggled this quarter, as did white-label manufacturers without brands, but smaller Chinese manufacturers such as Xiaomi, Glory, Realme and Oppo gained a large share of the Android market. Budget-conscious consumers continued to buy Samsung's high-end devices, while Amazon cleaned out inventory and sales fell in the quarter.

Apple's iPad shipments exceeded expectations, growing 15% year-over-year to 18.1 million units.

Samsung tablet shipments were slightly better than expected at 7.7 million, up 5% year-on-year, leading the Android market.

Amazon Fire tablet shipments fell 11 percent to 4.9 million units, outperforming most competitors at the low end of the market.

Lenovo, which faces pressure from smaller players in China and larger players in Europe, saw tablet shipments fall 49 percent to 2.3 million.

Huawei tablets fell 21 percent year-on-year to 1.4 million units, and new U.S. sanctions could complicate its outlook.
