CTOnews.com has learned that some manufacturers say that at this stage, the fab's silicon wafer inventory is "full" and still takes time to digest.

Silicon wafer is an essential raw material for the production of TSMC, Intel, Samsung, UMC and other wafer fabs. It is a key indicator to observe the semiconductor boom dynamics, especially the spot price is closer to the current market conditions, and can reflect the market dynamics in the first time than the contract price.

At this stage silicon wafer spot quotation, some industry is three months, most are updated once every six months. Silicon fab admitted, accept spot price adjustment, because "now we have to sell first."

Taiwan media pointed out that in the relatively weakest demand for 6-inch silicon wafers, the spot price fell by about a single digit percentage this season; as for 8-inch silicon wafers, there were items whose spot price fell slightly, and there were also items that rose slightly due to continued short supply, which on average did not change much. The spot price of 12-inch silicon wafer is relatively stable, but the manufacturer admits that customers have asked for price reduction, and both parties are negotiating.
