On February 6th, ChatGPT, a chat robot developed by artificial intelligence research company OpenAI, became popular all over the network. Mira Murati, the company's chief technology officer, told time magazine that she didn't expect her "child" to receive such a warm welcome as soon as it was released.

Muratti, chief technology officer of OpenAI, added that ChatGPT may "fabricate facts", which is no different from other artificial intelligence tools based on language models.

Murati also stressed in an interview that artificial intelligence tools like ChatGPT "can be abused or used by bad people," raising questions about how to regulate them around the world.

The question is, Murati said, "how do you manage the use of artificial intelligence in a way that conforms to human values?"

Asked if institutions such as OpenAI have a responsibility to regulate the tool, Mr Murati said: "the most important thing for companies such as OpenAI is to introduce it to public awareness in a controlled and responsible manner."

But she stressed that the company also needs help from regulators, the government and even everyone. Murati added that it was "not too early" to regulate ChatGPT.

OpenAI didn't immediately respond to a request for comment.

"generating text is something we all need to adapt to," Sam Altman, chief executive of OpenAI, said in an interview in January.

"I think we adapted to calculators and changed the test content in math class," he said. "there is no doubt that ChatGPT is a more extreme example, and its benefits are more extreme."

Since OpenAI publicly released ChatGPT on November 30 last year, the artificial intelligence chat robot has aroused great interest, and many people even worry that ChatGPT will eventually replace many people's jobs.

Someone wrote a children's book using ChatGPT and another artificial intelligence tool that automatically generates graphics. The researchers also used ChatGPT to answer questions about the US Medical Licensing exam, and the results showed that ChatGPT passed all three parts of the exam.
